2020 McGregor Founder’s Day-ish

Our first event in the books and it went pretty well! We spent tons of time researching online and reading tips from other vendors who participate in these types of events and it helped immensely! Even with this research, we still walked away with several notes of our own for our next adventure selling at an event.

First note: Set your alarm for the right day of the week! This is the struggle with phone alarms. I typically set my alarm for Monday through Friday and Founders day was on a Saturday. I went through all the right steps to set our alarm to wake up early, well, all the right steps except checking the days of the week on the scheduled alarm. And of all days, the dogs even decided to sleep in! Thankfully we just overslept by a little over an hour but it definitely put us in a bit of a rush because we had left a few things to finish that morning.

Second note: Wear sunscreen at outdoor events! For those of you who have met me or seen a photo of me, I’m relatively pale which doesn’t help on sunny days. Sunscreen was on my list, but never made it out of the bathroom cabinet. Oops! Nothing a little aloe gel won’t cure.

Third note: Start eating to attract customers! Every time Marcin or I tried to grab a bite of food, we had folks stop by ready to talk. Of course we’d much prefer chatting with customers but it became uncanny!

We had a great time meeting everyone at the event and appreciated all the feedback we received. A few of our friends and family stopped by to say hi and hang out for a bit and their supports means a lot to us.

Here’s hoping we’ll get to work on some of the project ideas that came from the quick chats this weekend! Already looking forward to next year’s event!
